Ever since I was given a Kodak InstaMatic as a kid, I’ve always liked, and have had a fascination with cameras and taking pictures.   And to this day, I take it as a compliment when I’m referred to as a ‘Photographer’.

Today, almost everyone takes pictures, but a ‘Photographer’ is more than just a person who points a camera and pushes a button.  To me, a ‘Photographer’ is someone who can take a subject and has the ability to frame and compose an image in a visually interesting way, and has the technical expertise to correctly expose and record that subject or scene in an aesthetically pleasing and memorable way.

As a Journalism major at the University of Florida, I studied the technical and theoretical aspects of photography and received my first photographic honor in 1980 when I was awarded 1st Place in the Kodak International Newspaper Snapshot Awards contest (KINSA).  My interest in the field of photography continued throughout college and beyond as I pursued a career as a photographer in television production.

Initially starting as a news photographer West Palm Beach, I earned positions in Miami and Los Angeles before working as a senior photographer and associate field producer for CBS News.  After leaving CBS, I founded a video production and computer graphics & animation company (Digital Design Group) in Atlanta that was instrumental in developing proprietary computer software used in television station promos and TV news show title animations.

In 1997, I returned to south Florida and my first love (still photography) where I am a member of several professional societies and photographic associations, among which include the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) and the Professional Photographer’s Association (PPA),

In addition to having my work appear in numerous local, regional and national travel & lifestyle magazines as well as other publications over the past 20 years, I’ve authored several articles and have had the opportunity speak on a variety of photographic subjects with which I have an expertise, including low level lighting and illumination techniques in landscape photography, CIE Chromaticity and digital post-processing image enhancement techniques.
